My dear reader,
A big hello to you. And hello to August.
August is my birthday month. This one’s a biggie. I turn sixty.
As a birthday special, all Masterclasses on my website are priced at $30. Please share them with a friend who may be looking for a class or two on these topics.
Gone are the days when I felt the need to make a fuss and celebrate my birthday. Now, it feels more meaningful to express deep and rich gratitude for all the years I’ve lived in this body and all the ways in which it continues to support my life.
But my family will make a fuss and a big deal of it, I know :) So I’ll give in graciously, feeling gratitude for loved ones who want to celebrate my existence.
Aging is not a bad word. It’s a privilege and a blessing.
40 didn’t feel very different (I still lived in Southern India). 50 felt like a milestone (I was 6 years old in the U.S.). 60 feels like crossing a significant threshold (16 years in the U.S., barring the 3 years we spent in Germany).
The Significance of Sixty
I’ve been reflecting on what it means to be sixty years old. Well, I know there’s less life ahead of me and more behind me—and that is a precious realization. You know the feeling of 60 pages left to read in a book you’re absolutely loving, and the book is due at the library in one day with no more renewal options? That’s how I feel.
Live intentionally. I wish to live with presence. To pause often, look outside the window, and gaze at the trees, sky, flowers… To breathe long and deep several times a day and remember that my breath is the singular gift that keeps me in this body and on our planet.
Serve my purpose. I want to live every single day having done at least ONE thing that helped/touched/inspired/taught someone. When my head hits the pillow at night I want to feel the gratitude for having taken up real estate on this planet.
Savor simple joys. Somehow the desire for “bigger and better” fell by the wayside a long time ago. These days—and especially into the sixth decade of my life—I feel the contentment of savoring simple joys. A fresh cup of coffee, an inspiring book, writing a page of words, the smell of baking, a warm breeze, lighting candles, hugging a friend…
Slow is sacred. I’m naturally slow and I consider that to be a gift, not a hindrance. I’m committing to slowing down even more in the coming decade. Speed does not feel good in my body. Slow as a lifestyle is what I desire.
Listen more. I’m working on practicing this. To zip my lips and listen. Listening is truly a gift, especially because everyone loves to talk. To listen is to bestow the blessing of attention, a rarity in today’s world.
More inward, less outward. In the past few years, I’d started living a more “inward-looking” life which, in the beginning, felt like an ill-fitting outfit—but now feels like having come home. I love my purpose-driven work. I love my spiritual practices. I love reading, writing, walking, gymming…and that feels like enough.
Want to Mentor with Me?
The signs are all around us. It’s time for the divine feminine to emerge as a potent force and lead the way. We still have some ways to go, but the invitation to stand in our power is here.
According to Human Design we’re moving into an era where individual empowerment will lead the way. What we’re witnessing is the collapse of systems and structures that are enmeshed in greed, corruption, and the abuse of power.
To lead we women need to trust ourselves, make empowered decisions, own our agency as empaths, and serve the healing of the collective.
Late 2023 is when I started to feel the divine nudge to call in women who were seeking a “mentor” to find their courage and voice and purpose.
I didn’t announce this publicly; just emailed a few of my beloved clients to say I was open to mentoring 2-3 women who felt ready to go deep with me. What that looked like was working with me for a whole year, all of 2024. Two said yes and I’m having such a wonderful time guiding them and witnessing the powerful shifts they’re experiencing.
Mentoring women feels like a mission to me—now more than ever.
In order to speak up, speak out, protect and preserve we need to heal the silenced child. I’m inviting 2 women to mentor with me in 2025. This is a year-long commitment.
Are you ready to deal with the griefs you’ve ignored/hidden away?
Are you ready to find your calling and live your purpose?
Do you want to let go of the old you that still holds you back and find your true self?
Are you willing to stop pleasing and seeking validation and permission from the world around you?
Will you stop hiding your empath gifts and show up for those who are crying for your help?
“Your authenticity is your currency” ~ James McCrae
Before you can live authentically as YOU, the parts of you that have tried to keep you safe and protect you need to be welcomed, loved, and seen—before they’re released.
Let’s get to work.
What does mentoring with me look like?
These are 1:1 sessions; just you and me on a zoom call.
We work intimately with your Human Design chart because this is what tells you who you came here to be: the human (how you navigate stress, fears, and emotions; how you’re meant to find your direction; what motivates you) and the divine (your purpose and gifts that support your purpose).
You can opt for ONE 90-minute session a month, or TWO 75-minute sessions.
All sessions are on Zoom.
We pay close attention to what you’re currently struggling with because I’m a firm believer that your soul moves you through the experiences you’re meant to learn and grow from.
Some of the topics my current clients and I are working through: making space for unaddressed grief, control issues, how to quiet the mind, marital differences, setting healthy boundaries, learning how to trust and surrender, navigating fears, reparenting the inner child, working on your heart-centered business in alignment with your values, mother wound, dealing with perfectionism, and so much more!
If you’d like to explore whether this is right for you, I’ve opened up a few Connection Call spots in August. This is a free Zoom call where you get to ask me all the questions about this mentoring arrangement.
There’s absolutely no commitment for you to make.
I’m not selling you anything. My only intention is to have you ask me questions and respond to them. At the end of our call if you decide this is not for you, we simply express gratitude for the time we had together and say a happy goodbye. No hard feelings.
This was beautiful, Uma! Happy birth month. May you achieve everything you set out to do on your journey to the next decade ✨️ 😊
I’m loving your sixty’s reflections Uma. With one year to go to my 60th, I’m also starting to reflect on how I want to live this final third of my life (assuming I live into my 90s). Slow, sacred and simple are definitely three words that resonate for me ❤️
