Another solar return, a new direction
It's my birthday and I'm making changes to this newsletter in line with a new focus.
Dear reader,
I hope you’ve been soaking up some sun and enjoying the fiery vibe of Leo season. I’m a Leo sun + Leo rising so August feels like my month :)
There’s never a better time than a solar return to initiate new change.
After nearly two years of writing on Substack and a lot of reflection, I’ve decided to rename my newsletter and hone my focus to Light After Loss.
Why it matters
For more than a decade, I’ve been guiding grieving women all over the world. Grief and loss are sacred work, very dear to my heart, and part of my purpose. It’s the path I was put on earth to follow.
If you’ve read my grief memoir Losing Amma, Finding Home you know the story of my personal awakening and how I was led to guide the grieving.
I sat by the bedsides of the dying for five years and lent my shoulder (and guidance) to their bereaved family members. If you go to my Blog, you’ll find a rich treasure-trove of stories, articles, and essays on the topic of healing from loss.
For the astrologically inclined, my Chiron is in Pisces and in my 8th house. Here’s how that’s explained. Where there is a “sensitivity to suffering, a profound empathy, healing others and helping them transform.”
The name of this newsletter This Human-Divine Journey has been my attempt to honor our messy human journey with the knowing that we’re divine. And I’m making that super clear by spotlighting what clients come to me for: grief, loss, finding one’s purpose. These themes have been the roadmap to my transformational journey and this is what I want to focus on, moving forward.
I want this space to reflect this shift authentically and honestly. It’s still us connected, just with a renewed purpose.
This doesn’t mean that my other passions will be sidelined. Everything I do, teach, and share is rooted in a deeply spiritual foundation. I don’t know how else to live—and this is what you receive when you sign up to work with me.
Introducing people to who they are through the lens of Human Design will also continue to be part of my work. Because I am truly lit up to guide your attention to places in your chart that speak to your gifts and the specific purpose you incarnated to offer the world.
I’ll still use spiritual tools as I accompany you on your journey of loss
I’ll still reference the human design charts of those who want to work in my longer 1:1 containers
I’ll still share my wisdom on who you are and how you’ve been uniquely designed to meet your loss and live your one-of-a-kind purpose
Why today?
Today I’m celebrating my 61st birthday. The longer I live, the deeper my appreciation for my body. I live in a body that is aging, needs a lot more TLC, and cannot do some of the things it could, even ten years ago. But what a privilege to be here and taste and smell and touch and see and hear what this world has to offer!
I’m in awe of my body and love it more today than I ever did before 😊
Today seemed like a wonderful day to signal this change in direction.
Here’s what you can expect
Personal stories and essays about my journey through loss, grief, healing
Essays on what I’m reflecting on, practicing, living through
Practical tips on healing from loss, living your purpose, understanding who you came here to be
How viewing your life through the lens of spirituality and human design can deeply influence how you navigate your challenges, but also your transformational gifts and purpose
I hope our connection continues

Uma
